Smart 2 Wire Input Converter Into 3 Pole momentary Rocker Switch
Fits generator sets with a 3-position rocker switch start-stop control, such as CUMMINS ONAN.
Also compatible with many gasoline generators having a 3-position rocker switch start-stop control and automatic choke.
Causes the generator to start and run automatically upon receiving a start command from a 2-wire switch, such as an ATS panel, solar inverter, timer, or remotely mounted on-off switch.
This smart rocker switch converts a 2-wire start-stop signal into a momentary 3-pole rocker switch. Some generators have a 3-pole rocker switch control installed from the factory that is not suitable for automatic generator control. A smart rocker switch controller may be the answer.
How the Smart Rocker Switch works..
After receiving a start signal from 2 wire start-stop input, the start relay will power on, temporarily connecting common wire (grey) to start wire (blue).
If generator didn't start and no AC power sensed on generator power sensing cable, the controller will pause for 10 sec allowing the starting battery to recover its power and try to start the generator again.
This starting cycle repeats until the generator starts providing power to the generator power sensing cable.
If generator fails to start after 6 starting attempts, the Smart Rocker Switch will produce an intermittent beep sound.
To reset the controller: switch off the 2 wire start-stop input.
To stop the running generator: switch off the 2 wire start-stop signal. The stop relay will temporarily power on for 10 sec connecting common wire (grey) to stop wire (black).
In case if running generator stops providing AC power to the generator power sensing cable, the smart rocker switch will try to shut down the generator automatically. The continuous alarming sound will be produced by the controller indicating this issue.
There is an option to delay the 1st starting attempt for 10 sec:
The DIP switch #1 allows to delay the 1st starting attempt if switched to ON position. An intermittent beep sound will accompany each delay cycle.
This delay time maybe required when generator is controlled by the ATS panel.
There is another option available on this Smart Rocker Switch controller: the user can set up 1 starting attempt and restrict the follow up starting attempts by switching the DIP switch #2 to ON position.
In this case the use of generator power sensing cable is not required. This function maybe useful when the Smart Rocker Switch is fitted to the engine without AC alternator 240Vac (120Vac).

Select this option if your generator or engine doesn't have any slave relays fitted. Many of the generator valves and solenoids have high currents and it may become necessary to “buffer” the control module against harmful currents.
Please select the right quantity of power relays: if you order a basic control module you would possibly need only 2 power relays to operate a starter motor and fuel solenoid. Select 3 power relays if pre-heat control is also included into your order.
